About the School
This SEN (special Needs) School is one of the largest providers of special education in Europe, with an international reputation for expertise, curriculum and training.
It is rated as Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted and is a National Teaching School.
In April 2014, the school became part of an Academy Trust.
There are three ‘schools’ each providing outstanding teaching and learning for a specific group of pupils.
The school also run an Outreach Service supports pupils with hearing impairment, autism, learning difficulties and complex needs in schools and early learning settings across the local authority.
The Research and Development Centre leads initial teacher training within the Teaching School Alliance, runs courses in SEN up to Masters level and leads training for SENCOs and middle leaders in special schools.
About the Role
Teaching Assistant (SEN/Special Needs)– SEN School, Walthamstow
The successful applicant must have some experience in supporting either Primary or Secondary students with SEN.
Duties will be including to support the class teacher as well as 1:1 and small group support. To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria: Proven work experience with students with special educational needs Required to work cross curricular with Primary or Secondary Students Hit the ground running and are interested to take part in any extracurricular activities. Drive, personality and passion Have strong management skills. Able to deal with challenging or disruptive behaviour A creative approach is necessary. Can use your own initiative and work as part of a team Possess the passion to support learners with Special Educational Needs
Any experience with Team-Teach or any other form of restraint training would be highly advantageous
