JDS Recruitment are currently recruiting for an outstanding Head of Drama for a secondary school in Hackney, East London who is willing to take their well established and successful Drama department to the next level.

The school requires 0.8FTE but will consider full-time applicants.

This is a permanent post.

Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale + TLR 2B.

Responsible to: Assistant Principal

Responsible for: Drama Department

This role requires someone for June 24 but will consider a September 2024 start.

All middle leaders are also open to applying to the schools Associate Senior Leadership programme which involves joining the SLT as a paid position for a year.

To be considered you must hold Qualified Teacher Status and be available to interview week-commencing Monday 6th May 24.

Requirements:

– Must Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).

– Hours:  0.8FTE but will consider full-time applicants.

– Mainstream secondary school, must be able to commute to Hackney easily.

– Have leadership experience leading the Drama department or a middle leader Drama teacher wishing to take a step up!

– Be available for a permanent post./.

– Must be available to start work either from June 24 or September 24.

– Must have at least 12 months UK teaching experience teaching or leading Drama curriculum to secondary students.

Brief Job Description:

– Leading and developing all aspects of the Drama curriculum within the Academy.

– Provide high quality leadership of the Drama Department.

– Contribute to the leadership capacity of the Academy.

– Teach high-quality and successful lessons to all age groups.

– To be an excellent role model for all staff in all aspects of classroom practice including lesson planning and delivery, homework, assessment, and feedback.

– To lead the development of high-quality learning and teaching in the department, through coaching and training.

– Plan and supervise theatre visits throughout the year for all key stages.

– Contribute to the provision and development of Drama enrichment including Academy productions.

– Maintain drama spaces with an emphasis on safe use and storage of equipment (props, rostra, camera, lighting desk etc.)

– To lead the team in the creation and delivery of a rigorous curriculum through long, medium, and short-term planning that is, challenging and personalised.

– To work in partnership with the SLT in the cycle of planning, implementation, review, and evaluation of the Department Development Plan.

– Be responsible for developing the work of the department, raising the level of attainment and progress in Drama in accordance with Academy targets and expectations.

– Line Manage post holders within the Drama Department.

– Carry out Performance Management of departmental staff.
